Alex is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) serving as a prescribing pharmacist specialising in Travel Medicine, General Practice and Minor Illness with a high degree of autonomy and complex decision-making capabilities similar to the clinical judgements made by a GP or ANP in Primary Care. Alex is also an owner & managing director of a CQC registered company with the capacity to provide specialist medical services.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health and Specialist Pharmacist Independent Prescriber (SPIP), having served as a frontline Travel Health clinician for more than seven years. He is the Head of Travel Medicine and Allergy Services at five GP surgeries and pharmacies. Alex is the Chief Pharmacist for Shell UK, working with the Shell Occupational Health team to advance its clinical services and occupational health clinical practices.

Serving and leading from the frontline in clinics, and being the leader in CQC/registered organisations, allows Alex to gain invaluable insights and experience in specifications and in redefining the boundaries of Primary Care and clinical practices.

Alex is the London regional advisor/tutor for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) Faculty of Travel Medicine and is tasked, along with fellow regional advisors, to work with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) to set the competencies framework of pharmacy-based Travel Health clinicians and the clinical standards of UK pharmacy-based travel. He was the teaching fellow for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) Foundation of Travel Medicine programme (2018 cohort).

He has been working on multiple national and global projects to raise awareness and clinical standards among health care professionals and the general public on the importance of a Travel Medicine service and its educational need in the UK, Hong Kong and the Far East.

Alex is the President and Chair of the Executive Board of the Hong Kong Society of Immunisation & Travel Medicine (HKSITM), which aims to raise the public’s awareness of the importance of Travel Health for travellers in Hong Kong and China. Alex is also a keen advocate for the empowerment of Hong Kong (HK) pharmacist professionals to become trained and competent vaccinators, providing influenza vaccinations and, looking to the future, travel vaccinations and routine and childhood immunisations utilising skilled healthcare professionals.
